The Charlottetown Conference was held in Charlottetown, PEI. Called initially to discuss Maritime union, the Canadians persuaded the delegates to discuss a broader union of all the British colonies. They agreed to meet a new conference in Québec to discuss the matter, a conference that led to Confederation in 1867.
