Star, Alta, Unincorporated Place. Star is located 60 km northeast of Edmonton. It is the oldest Ukrainian Catholic parish in Canada, founded 1897 by UKRAINIAN immigrants who settled in the area 1892-94. The impressive interior of the parish church - the third - was built in 1926-27 north of the original church site. Similar in design is the Russian-Orthodox church built in 1913 by residents who had converted to that faith.
