Nature Canada's mission is to protect and conserve wildlife and habitats in Canada by engaging people and advocating on behalf of nature. It is focused on effecting change on issues of national significance, including bird conservation, wilderness protection, and endangered species, and encouraging people to embrace a culture of conservation in their everyday lives.
Nature Canada is the secretariat for the Canadian Nature Network, which works to build connections between naturalists and naturalist organizations throughout the country. As a Canadian co-partner in the global alliance known as BirdLife International, Nature Canada supports bird and BIODIVERSITY projects within Canada and abroad. It is further aided in its work through its membership in the Americas Waterbird Council, the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).
The organization is headquartered in Ottawa and is supported by membership fees and donations, and by corporate, government and foundation funding.
