Feux Follets, Les
Les Feux Follets began as an amateur folk ensemble in the 1950s. It turned professional in 1964. Its repertoire, at the insistence of founding director Michel Cartier, was inspired by indigenous native lore and historical events. In 1972 the troupe became associated with the CHARLOTTETOWN SUMMER FESTIVAL under artistic director Alan LUND. Feux follets, meaning "dancing fire" or "fireflies," was recognized for its lavish costumes, stage sets and special effects. It has not presented public performances since 1975.
