Vézina, Georges
Georges Vézina, hockey player (b at Chicoutimi, Qué Jan 1887; d there 26 Mar 1926). He tended goal for
MONTREAL CANADIENS 1910-25 without missing a game. He was noted for his composure under fire, once stopping 78 of 79 shots in a game. He collapsed during a game on 28 Nov 1925 and died 4 months later of tuberculosis. The Canadiens donated the
VÉZINA TROPHY to the NHL in his honour.
