Sparton of Canada, Ltd. Record manufacturing company established in 1930 in London, Ont, by a US company, Sparks-Worthington. Sparton of Canada manufactured radios, phonographs,and household appliances and was the Canadian presser and distributor 1939-54 for Columbia records and thereafter, until 1969, for ABC-Paramount, Disneyland, Hifirecord, and its own Sparton label. It was the first company in Canada to press stereo recordings. Besides many records from the Sparton (USA) catalogue, the company issued 78s, singles (45s), or LPs by Ward Allen, Paul Anka, Joyce Hahn, Cliff McKay, Jimmy Namaro, the fiddler Bob Scott, Don and Priscilla Wright, and other Canadians.
