Raymond Ringuette. Educator, b Asbestos, Que, 21 Aug 1943; BA (Sherbrooke) 1966, B TH (Sherbrooke) 1970, B MUS ED (Laval) 1973, B MUS rhythmics (Laval) 1974, BES 1975, M MUS (Laval) 1976, D MUS ED (Illinois) 1980. In 1971 he began teaching at the School of Music of Laval University where he has assumed leadership roles in developing the undergraduate and graduate programs of study in music education. He has held a variety of administrative positions at the school beginning in 1981. He has lectured and presented workshops nationally and internationally in English and in French, and has been active as a music education researcher, author, editor, adjudicator, and examiner. His research and teaching interests centre on early childhood music education and on foundations and principles of music education (particularly philosophy, evaluation, and administration). He was responsible 1981-5 for translating and editing Foundations and Principles of Music Education by Charles Leonhard and Robert House, published in 1988 in Quebec City as Fondements et principes d'éducation musicale. He served 1982-7 on the advisory committee of Cahiers d'information sur la recherche en éducation musicale and in 1988 he became editor of its successor, Recherche en éducation musicale au Québec, both published by Laval.
