Prix de musique Calixa-Lavallée. An annual prize established in 1959 and awarded by a jury of the St-Jean-Baptiste Society of Montreal to a resident of Quebec whose 'accomplishment and distinction in the field of music have served or are serving the higher interests of the people of Quebec both in Quebec and abroad.' Originally awarded on an annual basis, the prize became triennial in 1993, and was not awarded at all between 1997-2002. Recipients are given a cash prize of $3000 by the Foundation du Prèt d'Honneur and a brass medal 'Bene merenti de patria.'

Another medal 'Bene merenti de patria', made of silver, has been awarded occasionally for exceptional services to the country. Recipients have included Lionel Daunais, Charles Goulet, Eugène Lapierre, and Wilfrid Pelletier.
