Brochu, Lucien
(Joseph-Pierre) Lucien Brochu. Administrator, teacher, choirmaster, librarian, b Drummondville, Que, 2 Oct 1920; BA (Montreal) 1942, B MUS (Montreal) 1952, M MUS (Laval) 1955. He taught at Laval University from 1947 until his retirement in 1987, and served 1962-77 as director of the École de musique. He also taught 1948-62 at the CMQ and was choirmaster 1948-66 at Notre-Dame-du-Chemin Church in Quebec City. He served 1959-60 as chairman of the CMLA and 1971-3 as president of CAUSM (CUMS). He has been a member of the board of the Canadian Music Council and of the EMC. Brochu's work on behalf of CAUSM and his expertise in liturgical music have made lasting contributions.
